Flowers for Ella

Who We Are & What We Stand For

Hi, my name is Victoria Bergeron and I would like to start off by telling you a little about how this whole business started and why my friends and I thought this would be a great experience. Last year, I was a senior at Vandebilt Catholic High School and I was taking a teen leadership class. This class teaches you the fundamentals of becoming comfortable with who you are, and it encourages you to become a great leader to those around you. Our teacher, Mrs. Moreaux, gave us an assignment to find a young entrepreneur under the age of 20. When you think of entrepreneurs, you don’t typically think of teenagers or even younger children. When we read aloud some of the accomplishments of these young people, one of my classmates said, “Wow, it would be so cool to be able to do something like that.” Mrs. Moreaux replied, “Why say it would be cool to do, why not do it?” This statement got me thinking really Why not? These young people were just like me and why couldn’t I start something great. I started to think about making a product and selling it online. A classmate of mine and I set up a website and thought of the idea to make handmade hair flowers inspired by Mrs. Moreaux’s little girl, Ella. Not only was the flower and the beautiful baby girl, Ella, our inspiration, but also her mother, my Teen Leadership teacher and friend, who encouraged us to do more which is how all of this came together.

We hope that the production of our business will benefit from word of mouth. For every flower piece  we sell $3 of the proceeds will go to Reece's Rainbow. Reece's Rainbow is a program that promotes the international adoption of children with Down syndrome. By raising money to offer adoption grants on waiting children, they are able to give adoptive families the extra financial help they need to bring a child with Down Syndrome home from a miserable existence in overseas orphanages. With a little help from you we can have the ability to affect change with just a flower and a story that can help promote awareness and help give a child a chance.

Now, we would like to introduce to you who we are and our goals for the future:

Hi, my name is Victoria Bergeron. I am a freshman at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. I will be majoring in Communication Disorders in hopes to become a Speech Therapist, which was another goal of mine inspired by Miss Ella Jane. I was able to see firsthand at Ella's therapies how rewarding this career will be, and I can't wait to jump into this career head on. I love children so I plan on specializing in child's speech therapy with both typical and special children. I am grateful to have met the Moreaux family who inspired me not only in my career, but also in my growth as a person.  I'm very excited to work on "Flowers for Ella" and to help promote down syndrome awareness!

Hi, my name is Jade Louque, and I am a freshmen at Nicholls State University. I chose Communicative Disorders as my major due to the love and passion that I have for children. I hope my career as a speech therapist will enable me to help those children who are in need of a little extra support in whatever area they may need. Ella Jane was my inspiration as I opted this major over others. I hope to touch the lives of other children as Ella has touched mine. I am proud to be a part of this wonderful organization and I thank God for opening this door in my life.

Hi, my name is Taylor Kornegay, and I am eighteen years old. This year I left home to attend Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I decided to major in Business with a concentration in International Trade and Finance. Although my degree seems far from anything that will benefit sweet baby Ella, I failed to mention that after these short four years I strive to go to law school. After all of my schooling is done, I intend to do what lawyers do, be a voice for those who can't stand alone. Ella is so precious, and her child like glow is evident in her beautiful big brown eyes. She is an inspiration to everyone she meets, and I plan to be proactive and make sure my voice is heard to protect those that should not be harmed by disbelievers.

Hi, my name is Maria McCain, and I am a freshmen at LSU this year. I declared Communication Disorders as my major because I hope to use it to become a pediatric occupational therapist in the future. In choosing this career path I hope to work closely with children with disabilities like Ella. I feel that working with these children can give me the opportunity to accomplish God's work and answer the call that He gives us to help those less fortunate than ourselves. I am excited and proud to be part of the Flowers for Ella organization because I am helping the same types of children and families that I will work with in the future!

Hi, my name is Taylor Crosby. I'm a student at Tulane University and a Biology major. In the future, I would love to be a medical specialist for children with special needs. My life has been influenced by one special child in particular: my first cousin Cooper, who has autism. He has taught me so much through his beautiful innocence and unconditional love. When I first met Ella, her sweet smile reminded me so much of him. Though she is just a baby, God is already using her to bless the lives of many. I hope that through Flowers for Ella, I will have the opportunity to give back to special children like those who have touched my heart.
